My art, my right brain mindset to creations…..

Not to just copy what is real, but to make it better/enhance. Moreover to make something that does not exist. But to make it exist for all to appreciate.

Question: Why do I create things that do not exist in reality?

Answer: I’m in reality 24/7, for my unreal world only exists for the moments when I newly create something from it. That something gets added to my personal universe of wonder. A place I can always visit to capture a little of that happy feeling that I had when I first created that piece of imaginative artwork. Yes, my world of creation is an escape into my mind which is as vast as the universe.

Question: Why don’t you paint or draw nature?

Answer: Nature is beautiful, interesting, and strange. However, it is still in reality. In my mind when I look at a beautiful sky at night with beautiful colors, shadows, and light. My mind goes to the next step. I think of what if I saw…, those beautiful or interesting things are the fuel to my imaginary universe of wonder.

Question: What is your preferred subject for your art?

Answer: The human form is my favorite subject. I love sketching, drawing, painting, and learning more about the human form. I find it fun as well as mentally challenging. When you have studied a subject to the best of your current ability with an intuitive understanding. Then you can change and distort the reality of what you understand. Animals come in second as a preferred subject and third are insects. That almost has a “four-letter meaning”. However, many of us have stages in our lives. My late teens and early ’20s were my “artsy” stage in my early 50’s with a family. As my skills improved I had to start thinking more about the business aspect of being an artist. Not just the passion of being a student/artist. For me, it is not looking strange, scary, artificial, unnatural, or acting pretentious, arrogant, or stuck up. As I matured personally being an artist is in your heart and mindset. Let your visual art represent you. Your art is almost an entity of its own, let it speak to the mind of the observer. If your work has something interesting in it – you will be acknowledged for your work. Not because of any unnatural look or mannerisms. For me, those things just distract from what you want your art to communicate.
